Antique Award High Back Saddle 1915 War Bonnet RoundupThis auction is for a rare one-of-a kind award saddle from 1915-the war bonnet round up in idaho falls, idaho. From the information i wsa told-this particular round up was started in 1911-it is the oldest one in idaho and still continues. This was the over-all or all around saddle that was awarded and made by the famous saddel co. rFom portland -clark. It has had lots and lots of miles and use and the indian figure on the fender is not that clear-i tried to outline it enough for photos with a pen knife or to enhance the old tooling-the leather is supple and clean-but most definitely shows almost 100 years of use and wear. The rawhide covered tree is solid and the saddle appears to me to be in original condition-except for new fleece and strings at soem point in time-one stirrup leather has been patched-and so has one fender-horn has been wrapped-so please look at photos closely if you are a collector. The saddle has a 14 in. Seat (when measured frmo the base of horn to inside edge of cantle) gullet is 6 in. Wide-15 in. Wide swells-26 in. Lnog skirt-5 in. High cantle-1-3/4 in. Old coin silver sloted conchos-horse head carving in the corners-comes with an old mohair cinch-here is your chance to own this great old saddle or retire it and use for cowboy decor-thanks for looking. Saddle specs and statements are to the best of my ability to be honest and correct-but if you receive saddle and disagree-it will still be yours to keep. I make this statement because in the horse world people measure saddles differently.
