During the early 1940s, all steel went to the war effort so these were made of aluminum, so ive read. They come with, whta i believe, are the original leather basket weave straps. The are dry and kinda cracked. When i put leather new on them and they soaked it up rapidly.

The straps can easily be used and probably for a long time. The aluminum could be cleaned up nicely but i didnt want to do that and mess something up. The rowels are 1 ¾ inches and have 9 points.

Teh back rowel sticks out 2 5/8 from the heel. The heel inside slopes like your boot slopes and slightly more in the back. The heel opening is 2 15/16 inches at the widest part and 2 5/8 at the bottom.
